The New York Times’ Executive Editor Bill Keller has shown his small mindedness by comparing the Muslims’ genocidal behaviour toward Christians in Darfur with the survival of his two-bit rag.  More self-important left-wing bloviating.  Another reason that the ”The Gray Lady” cannot pull a Titantic too quicly for some of us.

Jim Cramer: Obama Sounds Like Lenin! (Yes, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin)

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:46 pm by 1john519

Jim Cramer takes Obama to task.  Says he sounds like a Vladimir Ilyich Lenin:

“Let me tell you something, we heard Lenin. There was a little snippet last week that was, ‘Now is not the time for profits.’ Look – in Lenin’s book, ‘What Is to Be Done?’ is simple text of what I always though was for the communists, it was remarkable to hear very similar language from ‘What Is to Be Done?’ which is we have no place for profits.”

He concluded by saying, “Socialism would be a real step up from what we are hearing [from Obama].”

If Pelosi Will Not Work With Her Own Committee Chairs, What Can the Opposition Expect?

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:11 pm by 1john519

The Hill reports that House committee “chairmen [are] fighting mad over snubs by Pelosi.”  Continuring:

As congressional Democrats take the lead in responding to the sinking economy, subcommittee and even some full-committee chairmen — who normally wield significant influence in writing legislation — have been forced to wait on the sidelines as monumental bills are written in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) office.

That often leaves room for cursory input from lawmakers who have carved out expert niches for themselves.

Many of these members are complaining louder and more often to Democratic leaders that a return to regular order, where bills are written in committee, is long overdue. And some warn that if the closed-door, truncated legislative process doesn’t end with the economic recovery bill, frustration could boil over, perhaps onto the floor.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D, NV) called Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich to pressure him to not name Jesse Jackson Jr., Danny Davis, or Emil Jones.  Instead Reid wanted either Illinois Veterans Affairs chief Tammy Duckworth or Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

The interesting thing is that Rahm Emanuel told Blagojevich he would be hearing from the Democrat leadership in the US Senate about the appointment.

The story also states that Senator Robert Menendez (D, NJ) was involved with calls to the Governor as well.

Oprah once again suffers embarrassment through the endorsement of a memoir that have been proven to be entirely made up.  Angel at the Fence was supposed to be based on the true life story of Holocaust survivor Herman Rosenblat and his wife Roma.  As the story went they met on opposite sides of the a sub camp at Buchenwald.  (More on the story here and here.)

The Rosenblat’s literary agent, Andrea Hurst, said that “Herman Rosenblat and his wife are the most gentle, loving, beautiful people.”  And questioned why she never questioned it, saying “I believed it; it was an incredible, hope-filled story.”

Oprah had invited the couple onto her show two times and called their tale “the single greatest love story … we’ve ever told on air.”  Now, however, the hoax has been exposed by a Holocaust survivor in Britain just weeks before the publication date for the book and the date filming of a feature film was about to begin.  Berkley Books has abruptly cancelled the February 3 publication date for the memoir.
