Washington Week crew seems to find Obama appointments not so bold as they had expected given his campaign rhetoric.

Jeanne Cumings of Politico.com:

I think that clearly the [cabinet] appointments are important.  And we will keep watching those.  And I think that what I would like to see when he talks about.  He always talks about bold ideas.  That he wants bold ideas. I got to admit I do not see many bold idea people on these list so far.  So where is that, where is that fresh energy that I think we expected from the campaign to see transformed into the new administration.

Gwen Ifill:

Yea.  When I here him talk about providing help for the middle class it sounds very much like campaign retread, a little bit, just the verbiage.

Swiss Likely To Approve Prescription Heroin

Schweiz Volksabstimmung Drogen

Eliane Engeler of the Associate Press reports that Switzerland is likely to approve prescription heroin during a referendum vote on Sunday.  This would expand a program begun 14 years  to provide “addicts a clean, safe place to take heroin produced by a government-approved laboratory. ” While the United States and the UN have been critical of the program, other countries–like Australia–are considering adopting the program in their counties.

The topper is that insurance companies will have to pay for this govenment produced “medicine.”

Obama Ominously Backburners Terrorism

Dick Morris wrote that Obama has placed terrorism on the back burner.

His appointment of Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano as secretary of Homeland Security signals that the Department will once again focus on southern border immigration issues rather than on fighting terrorism.

Continuing . . .

By appointing someone who knows nothing about terrorism but everything about immigration, Obama has signaled the lack of priority he will give to domestic efforts to keep us safe.

Imagine if President George W. Bush had named the governor of Arizona as his Homeland Security director when the post was created in the aftermath of 9/11! The nation would have howled in protest. But now that nobody is focused on terrorism (except the terrorists who still want to strike at us), Obama has felt free to bury the task of battling terrorism in the bureaucracy dedicated to policing the Mexican border.

Morris is also concerned by the appointment of Eric Holder at Justice.

ust as troubling is Obama’s appointment of Eric Holder as his attorney general. While criticism of the nomination has focused, justifiably, on Holder’s sellout of the public interest by recommending the pardon of fugitive Marc Rich, it is his approval of commutations for the FALN — the Puerto Rican terrorists — that should raise red flags.

Before 9/11, when we were not hyper-sensitive to terrorism, Holder did Hillary Clinton’s bidding in approving the pardon of those who bombed Fraunces Tavern in New York City, killing four people and injuring 50 others. Facing a run for Senate in New York State, with its sizable Puerto Rican population, Hillary was anxious to deliver a signal of her empathy with the desires of New York’s Hispanics.

Morris believes that if these two appointments “presage Obama’s approach to the war on terror, we are going to be in deep trouble, indeed. There is not a hawk in the bunch.”

Obama’s Tax Hike for the Rich May Be Delayed

Obamamaniacs who support wealth redistribution cannot be happy about this.

The problem for Obama now is “how to pay  for this tax cuts for his ficticious 95% of the people” that he promised during the campaign.  The tax increases were projected to have given Robin Hood $45,000,000,000 he could redistribute.  That amount was already too small to cover all the money he has promised his supporters in tax cuts.  Now it will all have to be deficit spending.  Will he break another promise and not give the tax cuts either?

Despite Bells and Whistles, ‘Office of President-Elect’ Holds No Authority/diversity-obama.html

FoxNews provided an important reminder about Obama’s creation — the “Office of the President Elect”:

President-elect Barack Obama is looking very presidential these days. When he makes an announcement, he is ringed by American flags and stands behind a lectern that has a very presidential-looking placard announcing “The Office of the President-Elect.”

But the props are merely that. Under the Constitution, there is no such thing as the Office of the President-elect. Technically, Obama will not even become the president-elect until the Electoral College convenes after the second Wednesday in December and elects him based on the results of the Nov. 4 general election, as stated in the Constitution.

Detroit Free Press: For economy’s sake, Pelosi needs to push for impeachment now

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:45 pm by 1john519

detroitfreepress

Rochelle Riley of the Detroit Free Press argued that Pelosi needs push for President Bush’s impeachment to save the economy.  However, Riley shows here bias when she began by saying:

Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s ineffectiveness became clear the day she became Speaker of the House and immediately announced that there would be no impeachment proceedings against President George W. Bush or Vice President Dick Cheney.

Guided by politics, she said leading investigations into just how much the Bush administration did – and did wrong – would be divisive. What she didn’t express was her worry that too many Democrats faced elimination from the House if they took on the difficult task of proving who knew what, when.
